Hyperledger is an open-source blockchain project hosted by the Linux Foundation. It was introduced in December 2015 with the goal of creating distributed ledgers and blockchains to promote cooperation across industries1. The project's main goal is to increase these systems' dependability and performance so that large supply chain, financial, and technology firms can conduct international business transactions.

One of the most noticeable events during rigorous testing is the requirement for all peers to ensure validation of each individual transaction while executing consensus simultaneously. As a result, developers face significant scaling challenges under these settings. Furthermore, public blockchains are unsuitable for carrying out transactions requiring high levels of confidentiality and privacy.
Hyperledger is supported by a diverse community of developers, companies, and organizations, including IBM, Intel, and SAP Ariba. The project is governed by a technical steering committee and various working groups that oversee its development and direction.
